The 2023 Louisville football season is just around the corner, and the Card Chronicle staff is ready to make their game-by-game predictions.

The Cardinals are coming off a 6-7 season in 2022, but they have a lot of returning talent, including quarterback Malik Cunningham, wide receiver Tutu Atwell, and defensive end DeAngelo Malone.
The Cardinals’ schedule is challenging, but they have a chance to make some noise if they can stay healthy and play up to their potential.
Here are the Card Chronicle staff’s game-by-game predictions for the 2023 season:
Week 1: at Syracuse (Sept. 3) – Louisville wins (58.2%)
The Cardinals open the season with a tough road test against Syracuse. The Orange are coming off a 5-7 season, but they have a good defense and will be playing at home. Louisville should be able to win this game if they can get their offense going.
Week 2: vs. Western Kentucky (Sept. 10) – Louisville wins (75%)
The Cardinals return home to face Western Kentucky. The Hilltoppers are coming off a 9-4 season, but they lost a lot of key players to graduation. Louisville should be able to handle this game with ease.
Week 3: at Boston College (Sept. 17) – Louisville loses (42%)
The Cardinals travel to Boston College for a tough road game. The Eagles are coming off a 7-6 season and have a good defense. Louisville will need to play their best game of the season to win this one.
Week 4: vs. Florida State (Sept. 24) – Louisville wins (55%)
The Cardinals return home to face Florida State. The Seminoles are coming off a 3-9 season and are in the midst of a rebuild. Louisville should be able to win this game handily.
Week 5: at North Carolina (Oct. 1) – Louisville loses (45%)
The Cardinals travel to North Carolina for a tough road game. The Tar Heels are coming off a 6-6 season and have a good offense. Louisville will need to play a mistake-free game to win this one.
Week 6: vs. Miami (Oct. 8) – Louisville wins (50%)
The Cardinals return home to face Miami. The Hurricanes are coming off a 7-5 season and have a good quarterback in Tyler Van Dyke. Louisville should be able to win this game if they can get their defense going.
Week 7: at Virginia (Oct. 15) – Louisville loses (40%)
The Cardinals travel to Virginia for a tough road game. The Cavaliers are coming off a 6-6 season and have a good defense. Louisville will need to score a lot of points to win this one.
Week 8: vs. NC State (Oct. 22) – Louisville wins (55%)
The Cardinals return home to face NC State. The Wolfpack are coming off a 3-9 season and are in the midst of a rebuild. Louisville should be able to win this game handily.
Week 9: at Pittsburgh (Oct. 29) – Louisville loses (45%)
The Cardinals travel to Pittsburgh for a tough road game. The Panthers are coming off a 9-4 season and have a good defense. Louisville will need to play their best game of the season to win this one.
Week 10: Bye
Week 11: vs. Boston College (Nov. 11) – Louisville wins (60%)
The Cardinals return home to face Boston College for a rematch. The Eagles will be looking for revenge, but Louisville should be able to win this game if they can get their offense going.
Week 12: at Florida State (Nov. 18) – Louisville wins (65%)
The Cardinals travel to Florida State for a rematch. The Seminoles will be looking to improve on their performance from earlier in the season, but Louisville should be able to win this game again.
Week 13: vs. Syracuse (Nov. 25) – Louisville wins (70%)
